Welcome to ROARR Rallies.
I run classic car rallies all over the world. I am always looking for the next great drive. We are just back from the Great Game - a tough and adventurous journey from Istanbul to Calcutta.
I am now planning a gentler journey around the delights and 'must sees' of Northern India.
Rajasthan is the largest state in India. I feel that in previous rallies we brushed the surface, skipping through the delights, and I want to linger in the gloriously jewelled palaces of the maharajahs in Udaipur, Jodphur, and Jaipur, enjoy peaceful roads off the beaten track through villages, explore temples and national parks, and venture out to the desert town of Jaisalmer.
After Rajasthan we head through Gujurat, normally neglected by tourists, but very rewarding to visit, not least for the area's classic car museums. I won't want to resist the call of the mighty Himalayas altogether, the rally will end with a visit to the Golden Temple in Amritsar, then three days of exciting driving through the mountains to Dharamsala, home of the Dalai Lama and many Tibetan refugees, and finally Shimla, once the summer capital of the British Raj in India and now a charming town surrounded by forests. A Rally that is perfect for first-timers in India, or old hands who want to appreciate the detail of this glorious country. We will stay in the range of luxurious, eccentric and charming accommodation that you have come to expect from ROARR – I favour authentic over mass-produced every time.

All the best
