After the Great Arc of India the participants asked for a journey of true adventure where the earth gets under their skin and sand mats their hair. This is the journey I propose, and it is a beautiful journey crossing the great Central Asia mountains range and barren deserts in the footsteps of those who played the Great Game.......
Starting in Istanbul the journey will link Hindustan, Nepal, China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran (or maybe we will across the Caspian Sea onto the Caucasus). Slowly the adventure will unfold.....
And this is an immense adventure. The journey is long with dirt and dust, Great Game cities, sun and sand, high mountain passes and windswept deserts. And to blend this journey together I will find great driving roads for us all! How long must I wait to drive the Pamir Highway? – The Roof of Central Asia!
For those who love the adventure of history, the why and wherefore of India, the cold war between Britain and Russia, then this grand adventure and imposing journey I hope will appeal to you. If so, I implore you to read up on the Great Game - the clash for Empire!
But let me make it clear - this is a long and tough journey. For this particular expedition you will need not only stamina but a God given quantity of fortitude.
All ROARR events are limited to 15 cars. This adventure is expected to be a maximum of 45 days with a start date of 25th August 2011 from Istanbul ; 6 weeks of expedition to Calcutta.
At this stage I am only looking for expressions of interest which would be appreciated; some places are already reserved. I do understand it is still some way off, and the route, and the adventure, of this journey will be firmed up as we advance towards the start date in Istanbul.
